Hospital Security Guard
Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated and professional Hospital Security Guards to join our team. As a Security Guard, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of patients, visitors, staff, and hospital property. You will manage access control, respond to emergencies, patrol facilities, and provide visible security presence to maintain a safe environment.
Key Responsibilities

Manage all lost and found items as per hospital/site policies.

Interact with staff and the public in a professional and calm manner, de-escalating situations when needed.

Regularly patrol interior and exterior hospital areas including parking lots.

Maintain a visible presence in waiting rooms, access points, and high-traffic areas.

Control removal of hospital assets and equipment from the building.

Manage building entry and exit access control.

Monitor CCTV, alarms, and fire detection systems.
-
Report safety hazards, maintenance issues, or suspicious activities to the Security Manager.

Document daily activities, incidents, and reports in detail.

Enforce hospital policies, including smoking/vaping restrictions on hospital grounds.

Perform security escorts for staff, patients, or visitors as required.

Assist staff, police, fire, and EMS during emergencies.

Lock/unlock doors, elevators, and restricted areas when needed.

Respond on-site to all emergency codes and security alerts.

Assist in parking gate and pay station issues.

Perform Patient Watch/Rapid Response Security duties, if required.

Handle other assigned security tasks to maintain hospital safety.
Qualifications
-
Valid Ontario Security License.

High School Diploma or equivalent.
-
1–2 years of experience as a Security Guard (healthcare setting preferred).

Eligible to work in Canada (up to 40 hours per week).

Strong communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills.

First Aid and CPR Level C certification.

Use of Force certification and trained to use handcuffs.
Physical Requirements

Ability to remain standing or walking for long periods.

Occasionally climb stairs, ramps, or ladders.

Lift or carry up to 40 lbs.

Work outdoors in various weather conditions (cold, rain, heat, snow).

Ability to respond quickly, including running in emergencies.
